Apple Launches iPhone Trade-In Program Across U.S. Stores

We've been hearing rumors surrounding Apple's possible launch of an iPhone trade-in program for quite some time now with the latest rumor pegging its release to occur some time next month. It looks like the sources behind that prediction were slightly off as Apple has just announced they have indeed launched their trade-in program starting today. Apple's new trade-in program will allow customers with older models of its iPhone to trade up to a newer iPhone as they would receive credit for their old iPhone towards the purchase of a new one. The program launched across Apple's U.S.

Fuel smugglers costing Europe $4B+ in lost taxes

Cash-strapped European governments have been fighting a parasitic drain on their tax revenues from fuel theft and the tax fraud that goes along with it. According to a report from Bloomberg, individual governments are losing anywhere from 100 million to 1.3 billion euros ($133 million to $1.7 billion at today's rates) due to the scams. The increase in theft and fraud is being blamed on a 52-percent jump in diesel prices.

Cadillac flagship, possible production Elmiraj, caught testing

One of the biggest debuts at the Monterey car week, both literally and figuratively, was the Cadillac Elmiraj Concept. The massive coupe made quite a splash with the show's well-heeled guests. Now, we have what might be the very first images of the Elmiraj, or whatever it may be called when it reaches production, out testing. Don't let that modified Chevrolet Caprice body fool you, this car is about four to six inches longer than Chevy's US-spec cop car, from the A-pillar forward.

Aio Wireless Launching Nationwide In September

While T-Mobile and AT&T debate who should have the right to use magenta for their logo, AT&T will proceed to take its Aio Wireless service nationwide. AT&T's Aio Wireless was originally launched just this past May as a direct competitor with T-Mobile, who has caused quite a stir with their new contract plans earlier this year. It was only available for customers in Florida, Chicago, Texas and Metro-Atlanta, but starting next month, the entire U.S.

Pet safety is paramount to those of us who own and love them.  Road ID agrees and so they designed the Scout ID, a versatile,low-profile pet ID tag. Versatile because its two rubber O-rings can be slid over virtually any pet collar, low-profile because it sits up against the collar, not dangling below.  Personalized text is laser-etched into the satin-finish stainless steel tag in either the Original version (with multiple lines of text) or the Interactive version (directs to a 24x7 emergency response support).  Available in black, blue, pink, and red in both Large (1.0 inch wide) and Small (0.5 inch wide) sizes for $17.99 each.  Yes, it

You might be held responsible if a driver you're texting causes an accident

There's no question that driving and texting at the same time is dangerous and illegal. But a lawsuit in New Jersey filed by a couple who were the victims of a texting accident blamed not only the distracted driver who caused it, but also the person who was texting him at the time, CNN reports. Kyle Best, who was 18 at the time of the accident in 2009, was driving on a rural highway when Shannon Colonna, the 17-year-old girl he was dating, sent him a text. Best allegedly was reading the text when he crossed the double-yellow line and drifted into a lane of opposing traffic. He hit David and Linda Kubert, who were riding a motorcycle.

Plexus Concept Shirt Will Change Based On The Occasion

Plexus Concept Shirt Will Change Based On The Occasion

When it comes to outfits, there's usually an appropriate outfit for every occasion, such as one worn for sports, one for work, one for formal meetings, and etc. However if you're the sort of person who's schedule is packed to the max, constantly changing seems rather inefficient, not to mention it could rack up a pretty expensive laundry bill, so what do you do. Well the Plexus concept could be the answer to your problem. This shirt concept was designed by Vernon Chen and Joanne Lim Jin Xuan where the shirt will be able to morph into an appropriate look based on the occasion.

Tech Ad Parody Video Is Hilarious

Tech Ad Parody Video Is Hilarious

Over the past couple of years we have seen a variety of advertisements tech companies have released for their products. While each advertisement takes a different route, they do have a certain "theme" to it and it is this theme that the folks at College Humor have decided to parody. For instance they poke fun at how a majority of these ads seem to rely on indie rock music, or young people with creative-type jobs, cute children, and even similar editing styles.

Malaise Era Busters

Malaise Era Busters

It was morning on Woodward Avenue again. 1984 Buick Grand National (above). At first glance, the Regal seemed like an unlikely platform for the second coming of Buick muscle. It was a bit upright compared to the fastback Skylark of the early 1970s, but it was relatively light, and in all-black trim it looked suitably menacing. One of the first American performance cars since the start of the Malaise Era (other than the Corvette) to break the 200-net-horsepower barrier, the Buick did it with a turbo V6 rather than traditional V8 power. It mattered little.

Skype, however, looks in the opposite direction by working on a possible 3D calling system, according to Mark Gillett, Microsoft's corporate vice president for Skype. I've found my iPhone 5 battery typically lasts at least 2-3 days between charges on my slow days, but when I'm traveling or using my phone a lot, the battery can drain pretty quickly.  The last thing you need is to find yourself with a dead phone while traveling, so a backup battery is a smart thing to carry in your EDC gear.  These new Apple-certified battery extenders from iWALK could be just what you need for your iPhone 5.  First up are the Link chargers for iPhone 5.

Volvo is calling the Concept Coupe its "next-generation P1800.". Up front, T-shaped running lights bracket what the brand calls a "floating grille" with a "distinctive iron mark." The side profile is dominated by a distinct bow that can be seen, in a slightly more mellow form, on current Volvo vehicles, and the broad-shouldered rear end is bracketed by slender C-shaped taillight clusters. The interior, too, is unique. A handcrafted crystal gearshift lever is a highlight, as is a large touchscreen laid out in portrait (as opposed to landscape).

Hyundai, Kia and U of M studying 'highway hypnosis'

Next up on the hot-button list of things that can kill you behind the wheel: "highway hypnosis." That's the zombie-like, autopilot phase you get into on a long highway drive when there isn't much to distract you, like curves or traffic. Digging further into what it is and how to combat it, Hyundai-Kia engineers and the University of Michigan are commencing a study that will measure brainwave activity in order to track the body's slide into highway hypnosis. We're not sure how much overlap this has with Mercedes-Benz's Attention Assist, which tracks more than 70 in-car parameters to determine when you're not focused on the road anymore.

Expansys is offering Nokia's biggest Windows Phone yet for £239.99, while Clove is asking for £252 for the same device. The Lumia 625 isn't high-end despite its 4.7-inch screen, rather it's a midranger aimed at those who love big phones (and felt left out from the Windows Phone world).

Samsung had to once again step forward and refute the rumors that the South Korean tech giant is not interested in acquiring BlackBerry and that their partnership basically ended with BBM.

We saw some leaked images of the BlackBerry Aristo Z30 that was caught alongside the Nokia Lumia 925, but there is nothing quite like a video to show off a device in all of its glory, don't you think so. After all, if a picture speaks a thousand words, a video would certainly have a whole lot more frames – and hence theoretically speaking, it would convey a far longer message. There's something oddly satisfying about watching the boys at iFixit teardown our most beloved Android devices. Their latest victim. The all new Motorola Moto X. The Moto X doesn't feature a removable battery cover which means tools are necessary for prying the device open. After iFixit removed the Moto X's backplate — which was actually adhered to the inside of the device — they were finally able to expose all the inner workings of the device.

Porsche 918 Spyder to birth stretched 2+2 version?

Porsche is known for its ability to spin off a litter of variants from a single model, and according to a report in Automobile the 918 Spyder (pictured here) might not be spared the house trick. Having taken too many brains and too much money for too much time, company chiefs are said to be examining ways to get more for their development euro out of the supercar, and Plan A is apparently otherwise known as Plan 984. That would be a four-seater, rear-wheel drive supercar that uses a stretched mold of the 918's carbon fiber tub, keeping the V8 in the same mid-mounted place and costing around 350,000 euro.

This is thanks to the use of an augmented reality app that when used together with the iPad, allowed doctors to place a 3D vessel map on top of a live video of the patient. Basically what this does is help make the doctor's job easier and tell the surgeon where he/she needs to make their incision.

When it comes to rolling out smartphones, very little differentiates between one and the other, especially when we are talking about high end models. Sure, there will always be one particular model that spearheads the list of breaking features for the first time such as a Full HD display, but wait for a while and see how the other rivals will roll out devices of a similar nature. Motorola, however, intends to be different by offering smartphones which support touchless controls, and those will include support for always-on voice controls.

With tighter emissions and fuel economy regulations looming, Jaguar may have to do more than make a small, fuel-efficient hatchback to lower its model range's consumption figures – it also might give up its venerable V8 power, Drive reports. But not anytime soon, says Steven de Ploey, Jaguar's product and marketing director, who recognizes that the V8 can be replaced only by something that offers the same, or better, performance. But he has a word of caution: "We are not wedded to V8s.". In the meantime, de Ploey says there are other ways to reduce emissions.

Luxury car buyers are a demanding bunch. They've got this crazy notion that just because they're spending the better part of a hundred grand on a top-tier luxury sedan, they should get the very best and the cutting edge of what the industry has to offer. That has tended to come down to the S-Class even when it had grown long in the tooth, and now that Mercedes-Benz has rolled out an all-new version, the competition is falling all over itself to release updates to keep their flagship sedans in the running. Jaguar did that just yesterday with its XJ sedan, and now Audi has revealed the latest revisions to its A8 range.

Armadillo-T electric car folds for easy storage

We've seen folding cars before, but a group of researchers from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) have designed an electric vehicle that curls up like an armadillo. The folding process of the Armadillo-T prototype is particularly clever due to its four in-wheel electric motors and 13.6-kWh battery tucked into the front half of the car, which allow it to pull the rear shell with the rear wheels over the passenger compartment at the press of a button. Casters drop down from the center of the vehicle to facilitate the folding action, which shrinks its 110-inch length down to 65 inches.
