Volkswagen planning Up! hybrid model using XL1 powertrain

Volkswagen planning Up! hybrid model using XL1 powertrain

Even though we've finally gotten a look at the production version of the 261-mile per gallon Volkswagen XL1, this aero-shaped two-seater was never intended for high-volume sales. Fortunately, it sounds like the same isn't true for the car's diesel plug-in hybrid powertrain, which, according to a report from AutoCar, could make its way under the hood of another Volkswagen model: the Up. minicar (shown above). A potential Up! Hybrid would likely be able to return some of the same impressive fuel economy numbers as the XL1, but it would be a more realistic car with more passenger space and greater production capacity.

iPad 5 Out This Q3 (Rumor)

What do you think of Apple's fight in the tablet market. Sure, the iPad is still king of the hill where total number of tablets sold and used are concerned, but this does not mean that Cupertino should rest on their laurels. There have been whispers of a higher resolution iPad mini in the works, but what about the existing iPad with Retina Display.

The sixth-generation NASCAR Sprint Cup racecar, which will make its competition debut at the 2013 Daytona 500 this weekend, marks the closest thing to a "stock car" that the sport has seen in more than 20 years. No longer using just stickers to distinguish the different brands, the image above shows the lengths NASCAR and automakers went in order to create a racecar design that more closely resembles the individual cars they represent.

Benefits of Having an External Laptop Battery Pack

Benefits of Having an External Laptop Battery Pack

More and more people have switched from using a desktop to a laptop as their primary computer. There are several reasons for this: The main reason is likely to be the mobility which a laptop offers its user. The internet has changed the way we work, communicate and socialise, which can all now be done from our living rooms, our favourite coffee shops, even at the beach. This is one thing a desktop does not offer; one which is a major drawcard for laptop users.
Tied in with their ease of movement, is the fact that they take up less room than a desktop.

Razer Re-releases StarCraft 2 Peripherals

We have seen George Lucas more or less release his Star Wars cash cow for all it is worth – wait a minute, I take that back. Otherwise, he would not have done Episode 1 in 3D. But I digress, does the same tactic work when it comes to computer gaming peripherals. Razer thinks so, having re-released their range of StarCraft 2 peripherals ahead of the the Heart of the Swarm expansion, hoping to ride on the coattails of the game's popularity to boost hardware sales along the way.

Seat shows Leon SC three-door ahead of Geneva

Seat has just unwrapped the Leon SC three-door hatchback ahead of its official debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Unlike some transformations from five- to three-door hatches, the Seat Leon underwent some meaningful surgery in the changeover, losing nearly an inch and a half of its wheelbase while still retaining the same amount of cargo capacity behind the rear seats. The SC, which stands for Sports Coupé, is said to be more nimble than its larger counterpart, and therefore more fun to drive.

Despite my experience with countless other high-powered exotics on a variety of racing circuits, including nearly all of its Gallardo siblings, the all-wheel-drive, 700-horsepower flagship dropped my jaw to the ground.

Blackberry Battery+Charger Bundle For The Blackberry Z10

Blackberry Battery+Charger Bundle For The Blackberry Z10

. The Blackbery Z10 is a great smartphone. Most reviewers (including Ubergizmo) have given it good reviews for ease of use, lightweight and what not. One problem however being reported by virtually everyone is the relatively short battery life. “Software updates can only do so much. Our focus when we push our updates is to address market issues or enhance features” said Vivek Bhardwaj, head of software portfolio for BlackBerry. This suggests that Blackberry does not have any silver-bullet plans to address the short battery life problem. However this also does not mean that consumers will have to suffer (too much).

GameStop has conducted research into used game trade and has found that 60% customers are not willing to buy a console that will block used games.  This comes at a time when rumors of the new Xbox not allowing used games are surfacing.  Obviously, GameStop would tend to lose money if the rumors were true, so the study can't be seen as impartial, but its conclusions are yet interesting to discuss. “Consumers want the ability to play pre-owned games, they want portability in their games; they want to play physical games,” he said.

Based on Data gathered by IDC, Citi believes that the iPad business is in the midst of a serious slow down, if not downright fall in certain regions in the world. For instance the IDC numbers suggest that the iPad fall by 9% in the USA, and by 26% in Japan, while it grew by 17% in Europe, which brings the worldwide growth for the 4th quarter 2012 to 1.8%. Citi compares this to a 111% growth in the same period for the year 2011. It is fair to say that IDC's numbers are contested and can't be independently verified by Ubergizmo at this time.

Speaking of onerous, The Detroit News notes the "write-downs are more than double Peugeot's current market value." Yipes.
