Tweets overturn US death row conviction

Tweets overturn US death row conviction

Now this is definitely an unprecedented case, where tweets actually caused the overturn of a US death row conviction. Erickson Dimas-Martinez, who was convicted last year of killing a 17-year-old, actually had his conviction overturned by a US court simply because a juror's tweets was deemed to have been inappropriate after his musings were spotted online for all and sundry to see. This is also in line with a warning fired from England and Wales's Lord Chief Justice, who shared his concern that the Internet is a threat to the integrity of trials.
