With the R4's future in question, who knows how the TT will play it, but other scuttlebutt says that the TT will be on the MQB platform, will combine first- and second-generation designs and be lighter and more driver oriented. The snappers at CarPix have encountered a TT mule testing in the snowy north and unfortunately, it doesn't give much more away.

Broadcom: 802.11ac chipsets already in preproduction, preparing router invasion in summer

Broadcom might have unveiled a bevy of 802.11ac chipsets back at CES, however when it came to availability the chipmaker played more than coy as to when they'd sashay their way out of developmental labs and into the hands of actual consumers. Fast-forward to MWC and the chipmaker's isn't nearly as shy, proclaiming its future WiFi solutions were "beyond the sampling phase" and now in preproduction. Also of note, was the estimate that finished products (read: the ones you can buy) containing this tech would go on sale by mid-2012.

Been wondering what the Infiniti Emerg-E is gonna look like when it takes center stage in Geneva next month. Wonder no more, as the first official photos of the mid-engined, range-extended electric supercar have hit the web. The pics show a pretty and curvaceous design that holds its own against the likes of the Ferrari 458 and McLaren MP4-12C; more organic-looking than the sharper lines of cars like the Lexus LFA, Audi R8, and Lamborghini Gallardo.
Will the concept car's green drivetrain deliver performance on par with that kind of competition? We're eager to learn what kinds of numbers Infiniti comes forward with.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 launches March 1st for $500 on contract from Verizon

. Verizon Wireless on Tuesday announced that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 will be available in stores and online starting March 1st. The slate was originally announced at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in January and comes equipped with 4G LTE connectivity. The Tab 7.7 also features a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, a 3.2-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD slot and, unfortunately, Android 3.2 Honeycomb. An update to Android 4.0 has been promised in the future. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 will be available March 1st for $499.99 with a new two-year agreement.

Pacemaker and RIM announce exclusive DJ app for PlayBook

We loved the original Pacemaker, and were sad to hear of its eventual discontinuation. News just in this morning, however, is that the DJ tool is back as a PlayBook app thanks to an exclusive collaboration with the tablet's maker. Details are sparse right now, as the information spilled at RIM's event this morning at MWC, but we do know that there will be auto beatmatching, vinyl mode with scratching, digital mode, looping, loop travel, pitch control, beat skip and "pro level" effects. All we have in terms of availability is that it will be out this spring, with no word on price.

[MWC 2012] Samsung has teamed up with Japanese car manufacturer Toyota to deliver the Samsung Car Mode Application, which is basically an in-car solution that will seamlessly connect Samsung's family of smartphones to Toyota's In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system.

Ford brings SYNC and AppLink to Europe

America, I hate to say it, but you're no longer special. Sure, maybe you'll always be number one in Ford's heart, but the company has got to sow its wild oats, and that means heading across the Atlantic with SYNC and AppLink in tow. The manufacturer hopes to sell 3.5 million SYNC equipped vehicles in Europe by 2015, starting with the B-Max which will ship later this year.

Intel announce two new mobile Atom CPUs

Intel is serious about getting a piece of the handheld action this time - they announced two new processors and chipsets to join what's already powering the likes of the Lenovo K800 and the Orange Santa Clara. The first processor is called Atom Z2580 and features two cores (the same Medfield design like the fist one) with HyperThreading allowing the processor to run four threads simultaneously. It will be clocked at 1.3GHz, potentially going up to 1.8GHz with Turbo Boosts.

While quad-core processors seem to be the buzzword this year at MWC, some manufacturers have decided to opt for style and luxury instead over hardware performance. This really isn't such a big deal for those who value aesthetics over performance, and if you think that you're in that category, then perhaps the Lumigon T2 might be a device worth checking out. If the brand sounds familiar, it's because the Lumigon T2 is the successor to the Lumigon T1 which was announced at MWC back in 2010.

Copying data from a single USB flash drive to another might not seem to be such an insurmountable problem, as we do it nearly every day (for some), and others, less frequently. Google tests the ‘do not track' waters with a Chrome extension

Well, that didn't take long. One day after agreeing to implement a do not track button as part of a new consumer bill of rights, Google has given the people what they want… sort of. Keep My Opt-Outs is a Chrome extension, developed by the Mountain View team, which will prevent advertisers from using your browsing history against you. Presumably, this function will get built straight into the browser one day but, for now, you have to go dig it up in the Chrome Web Store — far from an ideal solution. Still, a tepid step into the shallow end is better than no step at all.

The Future of NFC Looks Great; If Only Widespread Adoption Were Accelerated [MWC 2012]

I visited NXP at Mobile World Congress. I'm a huge fan of NFC and was excited to hear that they'd have new demos to show off at the show. They used NFC in a lot of great ways. The most obvious demo was the digital ad poster which would take users to relevant sites when tapped. Tapping a movie poster, for instance, takes you to a trailer, or tapping a clothing store's poster will get you deals and send you straight to their site.

Those basic applications have been tried and true, but the other three were really fascinating.
