Apple wanted to buy Dropbox as a ‘Feature'

Dropbox co-founder Drew Houston told Forbes that Apple was interested in acquiring Dropbox back in 2009. According to the report, Jobs negotiated a possible deal which was rumored to have been in the $800 million neighborhood, directly with Houston and Arash Ferdowski, the founders of the services. It is unclear what caused the negotiations to stop, but Houston indicated that they were not willing to lose grip on the company and eventually decided to independently grow the business.
